For some reason I felt incredibly compelled to make a meme today. After some brainstorming with pettyscene, this is the meme that came out of it. We both very much like the idea of this, so hopefully it doesn't fail too hard, lol. I'd love everyone on my flist to comment to this, that's for sure. And try to participate as well. Even if you can't participate and/or don't want to comment, a link to pimp this would make me love you forever.

FRIENDING MEME.

This is a good old friending meme. A certain someone on my flist bothered me for weeks, saying how she wanted a friending meme so here I (we really) finally bring you one. It is quite a random friending meme, which you'll notice when you look at the questions. (Which were thought off in the middle of the night.) But it's a great way to maybe find some new friends. Plus it's fun!

I just did a huge friends cut. Most of the journals that I cut were abandoned journals or old journals of people that got a new one. However, I also cut some people that are still active. Maybe some of you are a bit shocked, maybe not. The thing is that I'd like some form of contact with the people on my flist. I want to have some sort of connection. And I also don't want it to be one-sided. My flist means something to me and I want to have something with the people on there and that's why I decided to do this big cut.

Flist Clean Up / Flist Cut.

So I did a flist clean up. Mostly I cut a lot of closed (for those of you who changed journals) and abandoned journals and I'm going to delete some communities and all that. I also cut a few people who I feel I didn't have much in common with (anymore).

And by that I mostly mean some sort of contact, because I want to have some sort of contact with the people on my flist. I want to feel like we can have some form of a friendship. I want to have a connection with people on my flist. And I'm sorry if you felt that we did and I don't feel like we do (anymore).

So I liked the episode, but that's it. I don't know why, but I didn't really get too excited. I loved it, liked it, but I didn't feel as much excitment as some other people did. That kinda makes me sad actually, because the episode wasn't bad really, but yeah. I'm hoping my excitment will get back again, because I am glad that the show is back!

- Veronica looked too pretty. Just absolutely gorgeous. Gorgeous clothes she was wearing and yeah, she's just pretty. I want to keep making icons of her.

- I completely didn't understand a single thing that was going on with Keith and such. I don't know if it was because I couldn't follow it that quick, because it didn't have translations or that it was because the sound was too soft. I don't know. I didn't follow it at all. Maybe that also made it more boring for me, so I guess I'll have to rewatch the episode again soon. Maybe I'll appreciate it more the second time around.

- Yay for Mac. I love Mac and I'm so glad she got some more time this episode. And that her and Veronica are hanging around, yay. Seriously, love her.

- I'm glad Dick is getting more depth. I loved the scene at the end with Logan, even though if the acting was not all that great from Ryan's side. But yeah, LOVED that scene. I mean, what's not too love? And they're bff's. lol.

- I don't know yet how I feel about the two new people. Paker came across as a real stereotype sorta and didn't particularly like that. But I'm curious as to how they'll play out her being raped. Sometimes I really miss the emotional side on VM, at least in season 2. So I hope they'll play this out really well. And Piz? Yeah, don't know. Don't care for him yet, but that might change. Last year it changed with Jackie as well ;)

- Also Love is cute, but ohhh you can already sense in this episode that they won't last soon. I'm not a huge Love shipper or a huge Logan lover as some of you, but I do agree they're cute together. I liked the key scene, but I could just feel Veronica closing off a bit. I just know this won't last long.

So this was the GA episode that aired here yesterday. And my God, did I love it. As much as the one before it, because they both sorta belong together. At the time when it aired in the US, a lot of you talked about Code Black, but thankfully nobody talked about what it meant outside of cuts. I'm so glad I didn't know that the moment the bomb was out and that guy walked away, that they'd blow up. So unexpected and that really made the episode for me.

- I had seen A LOT of icons out of this episode, but the fun part is that I didn't know it was out of this episode. Like the Izzie scene where she's sitting there with George talking about do-ers and such, I had seen that iconned so many times, but I didn't know from which episode that was.

- I loved that scene between the two of them by the way.

- Derek. What can I say about him? He's a lot of good, but he also annoys me immensely. He needs to make a choice and ohhhh, poor Addison. I love Addison by the way. Yep. Because she is awesome.

- I didn't know Christina Ricci was in this episode before hand. Or well, this and the previous one. Love love love. And that guy from Early Edition! I always watched that show and it was great to see him in this episode.

- Cristina told Burke she loves him. Awww... They'd better make it together, because despite it all, they care so much about each other.

- I love how they're really all friends. I think I like that the most about this episode. And the show. And how all the characters are just so real and amazing. Seriously, GA really blowed me away with this episode. Amazing use of songs, great dialogues, so much happened, but never without losing sight of the emotional side. Just gorgeous. It touched me so many times and great acting from Ellen, seriously beautiful. *sigh*

I always get sleepy so easily. lol. I'm not tired if I do anything active, but when I'm not, then I get sleepy so soon. I could sleep all the time and I don't think that would make a difference. It didn't help that class this morning was so boring that I almost fell asleep as well.

I cut all the journals that were abandoned, deleted or not updated in a while and I cut just a few people that I feel like I have nothing with.

Take all the comfort you can take

Seriously, I feel like crying every time I watch Everwood and realize how this is the last season and how these are the last episodes I'm watching of this wonderful show.

God, I love this show. I seriously do. I just watched this episode and it has such a gorgeous and haunting song at the end, which just has the perfect feel. I just tried to search who sang that and what it is, but so far, no luck. And then I'm not even sure if I can download the song, because I didn't manage to download another song, but yeah.

Anyway, I have to say how much I am loving Ephram this season. He totally matured and he really came out so much better after his Europe trip. There were some times when he bugged me, but ohh, this season? I am loving him. He's real, he's not whiny, he's just Eprham and he's so much stronger. I love him.

I also love all the other characters, I'm feeling a lot of Harold love, he just seems more normal this season and I love how there was more focus on him and Rose this season, because Rose deserves the attention too.

Bright and Hannah, they break my heart. They seriously do, but it was to be expected for it to fall down and honestly, it's more real like this too. Bright changed so much, but it's realistic for him not to change entirely and completely. So yeah, I like how they handled it, even though they break my heart so bad. I really ship them (though I ship other pairings as well).

Ohh Amy. She's so elegant and awesome and even though she seemed to have her eyes shut a few times this season, I find her one of the best characters. She's simply amazingly written and so real and she's so gorgeous and she can care so much. Nobody's perfect and I'm glad she's not either.
Do you know that I've never been a huge Amy and Ephram shipper? But this season, I really think they are destined for each other. They've grown so much and they really. They just fit somehow.

Also. The scene a few episodes ago in which Ephram talks about his kid? Just totally awesome. I loved that scene between him and Andy, it was one of their best scenes together. No fighting, no whatever, just talking, some respect. Amazing.

I love Jake, I do, but somewhere I still hope for Andy and Nina to end up. They are amazing together, but maybe it really is better if they stay friends, though I honestly hope they don't just stay friends.

Anyway, yeah, this Reid episode was quite great. They handled him trying to commit suicide so well and though it kinda was not expected, it also was. And yeah, they handled it good and it really made me feel for him and I also love how it made the other characters reflect as well.

*sigh* I honestly and seriously LOVE this show.

And I just love that it makes me cry everytime. It's my happy show somehow, because when I cry while watching this show, it feels good. It makes me feel good.

Wow!

I had planned to watch a movie tonight, I picked "Bridget Jones's Diary", and then play some Sims2. Before that I had to finish my two new communities, but... I just finished them! *wipes forehead* I never thought it would be that much work. But wow. Making the layout, finishing it, making the userinfo, having to rewrite it, because I selected what I wrote in order to copy it but I ended up deleting it, finding pictures for the first challenge and having it be perfect. Just a lot of work!

But it's done.

NEW LAYOUT!!!

I've got a new layout!!!

The header is made by singingrl as a Christmas gift and I fell in love with it the first time I saw it, but wanted to wait until the new year before using it. It's so pretty ♥
And I finally have a new style! I'm so excited about that, because I kept pushing it forward, but I decided to just suck it up now and delve into a new style. I'm using an external stylesheet for this layout, which probably means that it won't load if my site ever is ~~online~~ offline. The code is from faceon. All I did was change the colors and all that.

I also added a new friends only banner, which I made myself.

Mainly because I was expecting to get it like October and this dvd has been shipped like last week and it normally takes 2-3 weeks to get it to the Netherlands. And I didn't have to pay import rights!!! Last time I had to pay so much import rights, but this one got in through Germany and the first dvd I bought through Amazon also went through Germany, which meant no import rights. And the second dvd got through Schiphol (Amsterdam), so that meant I had to pay.

Ahhhhh!
I'm so excited!
And it looks so pretty.
And it works on my dvd-player, which I made regionfree (all by myself)!

I will make a friends-only post to talk some more, probably tomorrow. But for now I'm just going to link here, back to my icon journal. I've done a hell of a lot of crossposting just now, so sorry to anyone's flist I'm spamming. It's insane how much crossposting I did. But I don't want to only post in the elite communities, so for both VM and Lost I'm posting in both the elite and the non-elite communities. Or maybe that is insane?

Anyway, I probably might not be doing this a lot anymore and if I do, the linking to my journal for new stuff that I posted there, will probably be in the posts that are friends only. So please, friend mixy_things instead of this journal if you're looking for my icons and other graphics!.

For now I have 32 new Lost, 12 Veronica Mars and 10 Brokeback Mountain icons to share with you. I had fun making a lot of these and I hope that shows and you like them.

I finished a batch of new icons today and I just posted them in mixy_things. I probably will ocassionaly link to there from here, but for all those people on my flist who friended me for the icons - you should really go friend mixy_things instead. Plus, singingrl and mareliz also post their gorgeous art there, so that's even more reason to friend it.

I had a little trouble with this batch, though I had a lot of fun in the progress too. But for some reason they wouldn't all work with me or maybe it's because it's hot and it's been a while. But some of the captures were of really poor quality and I couldn't make them the way I wanted too. Still the overall end looks good and I hope you like them too. I have:

Full icon tutorial

My very first tutorial!
little_linds asked me if I could do a tutorial on mostly the coloring of some of my Friends icons and because I really wanted to do one, here is one. A full icon tutorial. The coloring on this icon is not one I use a lot, so I might make another one for the coloring I do use a lot. I wanted to have that within this tutorial, but I've been so busy with this one, that I'm going to leave it as it is for now.

How to make this icon:

First off, I want to begin explaining that I have my own way of cropping. The thing is, that I like working with Paintshop Pro for the resizing of images and keeping the gradients/textures I use open in there. So I work with both Paintshop Pro and Photoshop. I open the image in Paintshop Pro and then resize it there and paste it into Photoshop, so I can work on the icon itself there.

Obviously I did the same with making this icon. I got this cap from _jems_. I opened it in Paintshop Pro and resized it there to height 150 and got this as a result.

I copy the resized image into Photoshop and play around with the cropping a bit until I get what I like. This is what I like:

Because the capture is a bit dark, I am going to brighten up the icon by adjusting the brightness to +21 (Image-Adjustments-Brightness/Contrast). I leave the contrast alone. And this is how it looks, brightened up:

I then duplicate that layer and sharpen it once. Because the face in this icon is pretty visible, I want to smoothen out the skin a bit. So I use my blur tool (strenght: 50 %) to blur the sharpness on her skin just a little bit. Be careful to not go over the eyes, the hair, the mouth or anything else but just the skin. This is what I get after the blurring:

I then set that layer (which I just sharpened) to screen, 100 %.

I duplicate that layer too, so that I have three layers. I desaturate that third layer and set it to soft light. Also 100 %. This is what it looks like after all of this:

Then I open up a new layer between the screened layer and the soft light layer. I fill that with a gradient by crumblingwalls, which I use a lot for the coloring on my icons and set that to pin light. Most of the times I immediately take off the pin light from the face, but because I like how the colors look so far in this icon, I leave it for what it is. The gradient I used:

I then take a gradient from detoxcocktails and paste that after the pin light layer and before the soft light layer of the picture and set that to soft light.

I then look at the icon and because I really like the colors I'm not lowering the opacity, but I'm going to use my erase tool to erase a bit from both the gradient layers on her face. So that it doesn't look to yellow-y. Only on her face. And this is what it looks like after:

I then add another gradient by detoxcocktails to make it a bit darker and again set this to soft light, around 72 %. I use a gradient which to me is very handy:

I also erase a bit of that gradient around her face, because else it gets a bit to yellow in my opinion. I now have 6 layers (I don't use a lot of layers often, because I keep my icons pretty simple). And because I want her face to be a bit more visible, I duplicate the top layer. It's the desatured soft light layer. I lower the opacity of that duplicated layer to 52% and I get this:

Then it's only a matter of adding text. I am going to use the font "Adler" for this icon. I keep the text simple and just add "Phoebe". Size of the font is 9 px and I have the alias set to sharp, because this font comes out best either or looking sharp or looking smooth. And this is my end result:

- I hope that was useful. It was pretty hard to reproduce an icon I made, because I am always turning the gradients around or erasing just a bit more. So it looks a bit different from the icon I made earlier this week, but I did my best. And really, adding gradients and using the pin light layer, it's always playing around with erasing and the opacity of the icon to get what you want. This is just one of the ways I do it. It also doesn't mean that the way I make my icons or do the coloring is the best, it's just the way I do it.
This was the icon I made on which I based this tutorial.

New Buffy, Gilmore Girls and Friends icons

I made icons again.
This time I made some of the fandoms I haven't iconized in a while. I especially haven't made Buffy and Gilmore Girls icons in ages. So it was fun to work with these fandoms again and experiment with different colors and cropping. I hope that shows.

I have 19 Buffy, 15 Gilmore Girls and 23 Friends icons under the cut. They're mostly episode-based, because somehow I just can't use caps and do different episodes.

Wow.
There are just too many gorgeous moments and captures from "A Trip To The Dentist" to iconize. I did the ones I really wanted to, except for a lot off the last Veronica/Logan scene, because those captures were too dark. But I will definetly do those and probably some other ones from this episode too.

Sundays always have this real sunday-feeling. I don't quite know how to explain that feeling, but it's there because of the hanging around and trying to relax. And feeling tired somehow. So yeah, I'm feeling tired now.

But oh so creative. I now have 68 icons out of the 100 finished and I'm going to get it done before Tuesday. Hopefully I'll have them all up tomorrow, because tonight I really want to watch "Veronica Mars", since I downloaded up till episode 19 and I watched up till 11. So a lot to do for me. And I started writing an AJ/Brian story yesterday, which at one point just flew, but I'm not so sure if it's going well. So I want to finish that while I'm still in that creative flow and hopefully get something out of it.

I rented "Finding Neverland" yesterday. A very pretty and magical movie. But when I was watching the previews I realized I should've rented "The Notebook". I hear such good things about the movie all around me and I really want to watch it, but I didn't think of it when walking into the video store and I didn't see the dvd too, so I just forgot.
I also went to "War Of The Worlds" this Wednesday. Which was also a really good movie. I went there with Maartje, also as a birthday present from her to me and I just loved it.

At first when watching "War Of The Worlds" I was reminded of that I do not like Tom Cruise, but at a certain point that was gone and it was the character I saw. And I could sympathize and everything else with the character.
What I liked most about this movie, is that for once it's not about the government or more people trying to find their way in a huge catastrophical disaster. No, it was just about three people mostly and the man is not a hero throughout the film. He just goes on and tried to protect his children in a way and just to survive. No big hero things and that I most definetly like.

I hadn't expected to see what I saw.
The aliens and how they attacked. I will not ruin that, but I didn't know that it was going to happen like that. And I loved it. Quite different and original and I love how the aliens looked in the end. Hehe. Kind of reminded me of "Jurassic Park", which I hope makes sense. If you saw the movie I can explain exactly which one I was thinking of ;)

And Dakota Fanning is really good!
Just wow.

And yesterday I watched "Finding Neverland".
Such a magical movie with a lot of emotions but always this huge magic that keeps them going. I loved it. No matter how it really happened and what exactly happened, I love the movie. Johnny was great, Kate was great as always and the kids were really good too. I just loved it all and the movie carried me away. Such pretty scenery, good scenes and just pretty.

If you love movies like that, it's definetly a movie I'm reccomending :D

Yes.
I finished the batch of icons. Which is good, cause then now I can concentrate on making Lost icons for 100of__. I already have a lot of pictures picked out from all the flashbacks, so I'm sure I will have a lot of fun making them.

In this batch there are 15 Backstreet Boys icons. Not my best, but I wanted to use some of the pictures I found and not all of them are of good quality. AJ/Brian, Brian/Nick, Nick and one of all the boys. And some different varations of the pictures, because I love doing that. Sometimes the second one I try looks better, sometimes the one I did first. I'm just having a lot of fun.

There are also 12 Everwood icons, from "Acceptance" and 17 Lost icons. Mostly from a moment in "Numbers" between Locke and Charlie and some promo pics from "Born To Run" and "Exodus". And then of course "Credit Where Credit Is Due" from Veronica Mars, 28 icons.

I've finally been able to download Veronica Mars and I've watched up to episode 5 by now, so I finally get to make Veronica icons! I made icons from the first episode, because I like taking it episode by episode.
